This year, 2018, will see the Worthing and District Society of Model Engineers host Little LEC 2018.
It will be held over the Weekend of 16th and 17th June with our Track being the venue where we can accommodate 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 5 inch gauge locomotives.
Fine weather has been ordered in advance, although delivery can not be guaranteed, but regardless, we will be prepared for all eventualities!
So Where are we?
The map at the foot of the home page shows where we are. If you zoom out, the main feeder A" roads to us can be clearly seen. From the East and West it's the A27, from the North the A24 or the A23 / A27. Be warned what seems to be the most direct route from the A27 is in fact not, this road is traffic calmed, there is far better access from before or after this junction.
Nearer the date I will list any potential, local traffic hot spots where the local authorities have decided to dig the roads up.
Zoom in for more detail and switch to satellite view. The google red pin centres on Field Place House, we are in the upper right corner besides the Tennis courts. I'll give parking advice nearer the event, but suffice to say there is good parking within Field place with direct access to our steaming bays where locomotives can be unloaded before moving on to a more permament parking place.
Our track is 1297 feet long laid out in a figure "8". A gradient diagram will be given to all entries. For LittleLEC we will be running anti-clockwise, for those who know out track, that is the opposite to our normal direction. This will offer a less severe gradient on start up of 1 in 107 for the first 360 feet As stated earlier we can accommodate 3 gauges on our track. The main steaming bays can only accommodate 3.5 and 5 in gauges and have water on tap and 12v DC supply for blowers. The 2.5inch locomotives can steamed up on our old steaming bays.
Places to stay.
There are no camping facilities within Field Place but a search for "Worthing camping sites" reveals some convenient places not too far away. The nearest being Northbrook Farm, Titnore way, Worthing BN13 3RT, tel 01903 502962.
A search for "Worthing guest house" also reveals many possibilities, some of which I didn't know even existed. In all cases I suggest that you make a booking or reservation as soon as you have decided to compete or just want to come along.
Another useful place well worth a visit is www.worthingaccomodation.com
(One person on there tells me that he has an annex for hire that can also include access to a lathe and mill, now that could be very useful!)
All the information about LittleLEC can be found on their Website www.littlelec.co.uk/home
